Liebster Blog Award

Hi Everyone....
Today I was pleasantly surprised when I got the message from Quilling.it blog's owner Vilma that she had chosen me to pass the Liebster Blog Award. Thank you so much Vilma for this honour..

Khushboo from Something Sassy also honoured me with this award on 6th May 2012. Thank you so much Khushboo.

The idea of the Liebster Blog Award is to spread the love from one small blog (under 200 followers) to other small blogs. This helps to spread knowledge and readership.

To accept the award, you must:

1) Link back to the person who gave it and thank them for thinking of you.
2) Post the award to your blog.
3) Give the award to 5 bloggers (with less than 200 followers) that you appreciate and value.
4) Leave a comment on the blogs of the five people you have chosen to let them know.

So carrying on with the tradition I am passing on this award to 5 blogs which inspired me... It was a difficult decision as there are so many wonderful blogs but I had to choose 5 so here goes....  :

  1. GLS 2007  - She makes such wonderful explosion boxes and little quilled flower arrangements that I was inpired to make one for my Sister's Birthday.
  2. Fun Quilling - Cristina's art work is very neat, beautiful and creative... be it the chocolate box... or expressive hearts... or Flower shop... or jewellery.... the list goes on and on...
  3. Quillling Me Softly - The thing I love about Pritesh is that she is so good at quilling and she shares her knowledge and techniques with everyone..and she always encourages  people with generous dose of appreciation.
  4. Susan Quilling Cards - I love all of Susan's work but still for me the Beehive Technique is the best of all...
  5. Fantasies Of Paper  - Kavya is the youngest quiller whose work I have seen and she is so good at it ...her work is creative and neat... I hope she will take this art to new heights.

Birthday Surprise for my Lil Sister - Explosion Box...

Hi Everyone....

This post is the 3rd part of the little birthday surprise I planned for my little sister. You can find the 1st part here and 2nd part here

So continuing with the gifts.... In this post I will show you the explosion box I made for her...
The box is made with mount-board as I wanted it to be strong enough to withstand the rough handling of the courier company people... I cut out all the sides individually and then attached them with broad cellotape. Then I covered it with dark purple CS. Then it was decorated with border punch cutouts, laces, ribbons & quilled pieces.

Inside of the Explosion Box...

I used mount board to make the cake base and then covered it with cold porcelain to give it a fondant effect. Then the cake was decorated with quilling, green ribbon and pearl white 3D outliner. I used acrylic paint to write the sentiment.

I used OHP sheet covered in glue on both sides and dipped in purple glitter to write 22. The butterflies are made with butterfly punches and then the silver glitter is glued onto them. I slightly embossed the wings to give them a 3D look.

For the tiny gifts I recycled some eyedrop packages cut to appropriate size and then wrapped with  pearl and texture papers and then tied with ribbon.

She loved all the gifts but this was her favorite as she said that this was very unique and totally unexpected...  :D She was so excited that when she went to her friends party yesterday she took everything with her to show them to all of her  friends... :D

Birthday Surprise for my Lil Sister - Chocolates...

Hi Everyone...

Today I will share some pix of the little surprise I planned for my baby sister's birthday...:D  (Actually she is doing her PG in fashion designing from Pearl but for me she will always be my little baby sister ) And today she got the courier and when she opened her gift she loved everything and  was soooooooo happy.... it made my day....  :D

I had packed 5 gifts and a card individually and then put all of them in a big container and then gift wrapped it (I was in a hurry to pack and courier as I had only 45 minutes before the closing time of DTDC office so that's why I had no time to photograph the final package after gift wrapping.)

I will show you some of the gifts in 3 different posts as there are many photographs... This is the 1st part and you can find the 2nd part here and 3rd part here.

So here goes .... Assorted Homemade Chocolates.... She loves homemade dark chocolates filled with dry fruits... So I sent her a box full of these dark sinful delights....  :)

Stay tuned for the next post.... :)
