Invitation Card for His Holiness Dalai Lama's Function

When I was Working on the Stage Designing Project for His Holiness Dalai Lama's visit to Mumbai the organizers asked me if I could also design an Invitation card for the function. They said it was urgent and they wanted the first draft within a day. In a very short span of time, it was a very challenging work but finally it gave me a great satisfaction.......

First Draft
Well appreciated First Draft was followed by a convincing Final Design...

After the front was finalized I started working on the back page.

His Holiness Dalai Lama Stage Designing Project

His Holiness Dalai Lama's function was organised by Bihar Foundation, Mumbai on 19th Feb 2011.The Bihar Foundation contacted me for the stage designing for this function. They wanted the stage design to include Nalanda University and Lord Buddha. At first they wanted to create a 3D stage.

It was decided that the background so created would reflect that  His Holiness Dalai Lama is speaking from The Nalanda University, the first and biggest university of its time. The Image of Lord Buddha in the sky symbolizes his blessings.

After the design was finalized the organizers decided on  a 2D backdrop so the design was printed and used in the background.

The function was a huge success and my design was appreciated. For this I was awarded by Union Minister of Tourism Shri Subodh Kant Sahay and Bollywood singer Shri Udit Narayan.

Old Photo Effect

Hi friends...

Here is a photograph of a newlywed couple I found on Internet and I thought of giving this an appearance of an old photograph....

Orignal Image

Final Result
To achieve this result I converted the image to  black and white. Then I gave it a sepia tone. I used some grunge textures and experimented a bit with layer modes and opacity to give it a old and decayed look. I gave the upper left corner a little bit of shine to fake reflected light from the glass. Now I scaled the photograph to the size of the frame. I used an old wallpaper texture for the background. finally to give the photo frame  an elevated and 3D look I created its shadow...

Carmen Miranda Digital Painting

Hi Friends...

I wanted to start my blog by sharing my latest digital painting with you all..... so here it is...

I saw this picture of Carmen Miranda on internet & I liked the sparkle in her eyes.... & knew I had to make this digital painting.....  :)

Carmen Miranda

Whenever I start making a portrait I always start with the eyes because I think that eyes are the most expressive part of a face and if you dont get it right it will ruin every other detail.... so I try to get the eyes right first.... :) then I start working on other parts....

Hair Details

I have to admit that the hair part was a bit difficult but after a bit of R&D I got the result I wanted....

Hope you all like it...
