More Post-it-notes

Hello..
Have you noticed my new blog design..

I promised in my last post that I will share the projects I am currently working on..

So here I am back with some new Post-it-Notes Fridge Magnets..

But before I move on to today's project I will answer some questions..
I often get a lot of questions about how do I make my projects..what is the process behind creating my designs...etc.. etc..
& the truth is.. There is no fixed process..
I go with the flow...
I gather things I would like to use...
( If I have some new supplies then 99% chances are that I will use them :)  )
Then I try to arrange them... mix & match... maybe add something else to add interest.. like pearls, rhinestones, ribbons, flowers etc..& experiment till I am satisfied & then I glue them up..
Simple.. :)
The only thing to keep in mind is that you have to experiment & sometimes take some risks to come up with a great idea & design...

Now lets move on to Post-it-Notes...

After searching so many places I finally got my hands on Kraft CS..
& I LOVE it..  :)
And I want to use it in all my projects...
And that is the reason behind my last 2 cards being Kraft based.. hehehe..
I also got vintage Photo & have been using it like crazy.. :)
So when I sat down to make these beauties.. these 2 things were the first things I took..
I also got some pretty PPs (from FMI, A5) & a variety of leaves recently..
So.. I started working & came up with these..

I didn't want to cover the beautiful designs so I just inked the edges with Vintage Photo & added some pearls, rhinestones, holographic glitter glue to most of them..
The 4 post-its in the 1st photo had white spaces on the top where I added some paper roses & leaves..
The springy thing was made with the leftover stems of the roses..

They look much more prettier in person..
All of the above are made from a single sheet of A5 PP.. !!!

I made all of these in a matter of few hours.. Fast na.. :)
There are more designs of Post-it-notes but will share them in my next post..
Do visit my facebook page for some closeup shots..

ICRC29

Hello..

New month comes with a brand new challenge at INDIAN CRAFT ROOM

Here is the Challenge for the month of May

ICRC29 – Card with Elements and a “Theme” Twist
You have to use atleast 3 ELEMENTS on your card which you will find on our DT Blogs.
You can use more than 3 elements if you like..
So that means you will have to visit each of the 5 DT Blogs to find all the elements..
& then you have to visit the ICR Blog for the TWIST..

My element is:
Ribbon!

& here is my card...

For this card I have used Kraft base.
The top panel was stamped with sheet music stamp & the embossed with my new Couture Creations- Trellis embossing folder..
The swirly & flowery design adds a very feminine touch to the card & goes well with the butterfly..
Then I inked the whole panel with Vintage Photo & adhered it to the card base with foam tape to give it some dimension..
Next I stamped the butterfly & distressed it with Mowed Lawn & Vitage Photo..
Then I fussy cut it added some black pearls to the center & adhered it to the card..
I added some ribbon & rhinestones for the finishing touch...

Be sure to list the three elements that you've used, when posting your cards.
Now hop on to find all the ELEMENTS & the TWIST

ICRC28

Hello...

We have a brand new challenge in ICR..
ICRC28 :
Create a Card/Project with speech bubble(s) and the TWIST is to have a witty or Pun Intended sentiment on the project.

And below is the card I made for the DT inspiration post...

This challenge is way out of my comfort zone...
I rarely use sentiments in my cards & using a witty sentiment was a challenge in itself..
& that too with a speech bubble...!!!

So it took a lot of time to come up with something I liked...
But I enjoyed it...
This is one of the things I am loving about being in a Design Team...
I get to try new things which probably I wouldn't have tried on my own... :)

The sentiment is computer generated..
& then cut in a shape of speech bubble...
I inked it to make it pop out...
& then applied an outline of clear holographic glitter glue..
The numbers are stamped with various inks & coated with clear holographic glitter glue..

Hop on to ICR for some great inspiration by the Design Team & to play along...

Thanks for visiting...

Birthday Themed Magic Explosion Box

Hello...

Those who like my page ob FB must have seen these pictures of my new custom made magic explosion Box...
It was ordered by the same client who ordered the 25th anniversary scrapbook
This Magic Explosion Box was made for his mother's birthday..

The only requirement of the customer was a cake & some balloons..
Apart from that everything was upto me... the design... the colours everything...

When the customer puts such faith & trust in you the responsibility increases...
So after much thought & trying 2-3 combinations I came up with this one which I thought the client would like...

Except for the Calla Lillies (available in my store) all the flowers & leaves are handmade..
The sentiment is computer generated..

The two tiered cake is also handmade from scratch...
The pink roses on top are Foam Roses available in my store..
Its hard to see in the photographs but the butterflies are glimmer misted & have a beautiful sheen..

Supplies Used:

Scalloped Circles
Cuttlebug Birds & Swirls embossing folder

Copycats

Update: She has apologized for her mistake...
So everything is settled...  :)
All's well that ends well...

I don't know where to start...
This is such a common practice these days to copy someone else's design & then claim that it is their own..

Today I came across 1 such person's blog who has copied not just 1 or 2 but 5 of my designs... & made some little insignificant changes & not even once has she given any credit to me....

To top it all she has entered the cards in challenges & is accepting all the compliments...
& she is even selling these designs on her website ... for half or one third of what is my price for those cards...!!!

These things make me feel like I should not share what I create online...

I also get inspired by other artists... but I try &  give credit to them ...

Below you can see the designs for yourself... the top design is mine & the bottom one is the copied one...

This card was entered in a challenge this January!!!

I have already contacted her... Lets see what she has to say...

Pichkari Blog Hop

Welcome to Pichkari Holi Blog Hop by ICR Team. You can start at ICR Forum and get all the deets on the Blog Hop.

Holi is also called the Spring Festival - as it marks the arrival of spring the season of hope and joy. The gloom of the winter goes as Holi promises of bright summer days. Nature too, it seems rejoices at the arrival of Holi and wears its best clothes. Fields get filled with crops promising a good harvest to the farmers and flowers bloom colouring the surroundings and filling fragrance in the air.

For me holi is all about the delicacies my mom prepares..
Dahi Wada & Pua are a must on this day...
I am not a big fan of playing holi specially with wet colours...
but I love playing with colours... on paper..  :)

So without any further ado here is the card I prepared for this blog hop...
It is inspired by a card I saw...
I always wanted to make something like that...
& this was the perfect occasion...
All colourful & cheerful ... Just like this festival of colours & joy...
I have made few changes... I wanted the colours to have very soft edges & mixing smoothly into one another...

For the background I dropped few drops of each colour on a wet white CS, added some water & let them merge into each other...
After that I added a stamped butterfly in black & highlighted some parts with a white pen..
(I love butterflies & for me they signify happiness...)
& then I doodled the swirls with a black gel pen..

If you are here from Asha's blog then you are on the right path. If not, you can go to the ICR Forum and start from there.

Here is the list of bloggers,

Nupur - You are here

Wishing you a very happy & colourful HOLI...
